A young boy getting a Waldorf education at Micha-el School in Portland, OregonEstablished in 2008, Micha-el School offers a well-rounded kindergarten through eighth grade education.  Our Waldorf certified teachers provide a balanced, comprehensive curriculum that weaves academics with creativity to inspire joyful learning. Blending language arts, math and sciences with music, foreign languages, art and movement, we fully engage children at every developmental age.  We have a warm and vibrant community dedicated to the physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual well-being of every student.

2019 marks the 100th anniversary of Waldorf education.  The first school opened in Stuttgart, Germany on September 7, 1919. Created by Rudolf Steiner, Emil Molt E.A. Karl Stockmeier and a group of 17 teachers, the school was intended to provide an artistic and deeply purposeful education born out of love and respect for the growing child. These trailblazers knew that the future of humanity rested on the continued development of all human faculties; emotional intelligence (feeling), determined action (will) and intellectual vigor (thinking). In this day where technologies are continually being developed to replace the work that human beings are capable of doing, from calculating change to driving cars, this education is resoundingly important.
