Part-Time Strings Teacher
Micha-el School, a private K-8 Waldorf school on 12 acres in Milwaukie, OR, is seeking an experienced Strings Teacher to lead 6-8 lessons per week. Classes meet twice weekly each in the classroom for grades 4, 5, and a combined middle school string band. After winter break, 3rd grade will also have twice weekly lessons. Instruments taught include violin, viola, and cello. Classes range between 5-18 students.
Along with our Choir Teacher and Wind Band Teacher, the Strings Teacher will lead our spring music assembly and help prepare students for performances. The Strings Teacher will also write end-of-year progress reports for each student. Knowledge of Waldorf education strongly preferred but not required.
Part-Time Middle School Wind Band Teacher
Micha-el School, a private K-8 Waldorf school on 12 acres in Milwaukie, OR, is seeking a Wind Band teacher to lead 2 lessons per week. Class meets twice weekly for a combined middle school wind band, grades 6-8. Students are required to take private lessons in their instrument of choice outside of wind band in order to join this group. Class size will be around 15 students, to be finalized late summer.
Along with our Choir Teacher and Strings Teacher, the Wind Band Teacher will lead and help prepare students for our spring music assembly, and will also help prepare students for other performances as needed. Part-Time Choir Teacher
Micha-el School, a private K-8 Waldorf school on 12 acres in Milwaukie, OR, is seeking a Choir Teacher to lead 2 lessons per week. Class meets twice weekly for a combined middle school choir, grades 6-8. Class size will be around 15 students, to be finalized late summer.
Along with our Wind Band Teacher and Strings Teacher, the Choir Teacher will lead and help prepare students for our spring music assembly, and will also help prepare students for other performances as needed. The Choir Teacher will also write end-of-year progress reports for each student. Knowledge of Waldorf education strongly preferred but not required.
Part-Time Games/P.E. Teacher
Micha-el School, a private K-8 Waldorf school on 12 acres in Milwaukie, OR, is seeking a Games/P.E. Teacher to lead 4 lessons per week. Classes meet once weekly each for grades 6,7,8, and a combined 4/5. Our school does not have a gymnasium, so classes are taught outside, rain or shine.
The Games Teacher will also help prepare students for participation in class specific annual events: 5th grade Olympiad, 6th grade Medieval Games, and 7/8th grade Track Meet. At the end of the school year, the Games Teacher will write a progress report for each student. Knowledge of Waldorf education strongly preferred but not required.
Part-Time Spanish Teacher
Micha-el School, a private K-8 Waldorf school on 12 acres in Milwaukie, OR, is seeking a Spanish Teacher to lead 12 lessons per week. Classes meet three times weekly in rotating blocks (usually 1-4 and 5-8). Familiarity with, or strong interest in learning, the Waldorf approach to language instruction is essential.
Additional responsibilities include recess duties, end-of-year progress reports for each student, and preparing the students to share some songs and/or verses for our February foreign language assembly. Knowledge of Waldorf education strongly preferred but not required.
