Martinmas Lantern Walk

November 8 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

All around us are signs of the season’s transition from autumn into winter. The nights grow longer, the days shorter, and the breezes merrily dance with the colorful autumn leaves. It is a time for us to once again find that source of inner light, and carry it forth bravely into the coming darkness of this time of year.

Students in grades k-3 will be walking with their teachers and classes. We will proceed in grades order, with the kindergarten in the lead. Students are not to run ahead, but instead we will all take our time and enjoy being out in the dark with our lanterns, singing under the stars with our friends and family. Parents and older siblings may follow behind the classes. Singing is encouraged, and older students should bring a lantern to light their way as well. A mood of reverence is important to cultivate for this event, so chatting should be saved for another time.

Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather.  Rain gear is strongly encouraged, especially boots, as our route may take us through a bit of mud!

Supported by grade 2.
